The Phantom Metro Stations

The Paris Metro has officially more than 300 different stations scattered throughout the urban area. To these 300 stations are added, however, users benefit from having a fair number of stations that are called "ghost", meaning that although there are still a total state of disrepair as no longer fulfill their function.

Underground stations are now completely inaccessible to the public 4:
  • Arsenal (line 5, between the St. turnips and actions Quai de la Bastille) MAP ;
  • Champ de Mars (line 8, between the St. La Motte Picquet actions - Grenelle and Ecole Militaire) MAP ;
  • Croix-Rouge (line 10, between St actions Sèvres-Babylone and Mabillon) MAP ;
  • Saint-Martin (lines 8 and 9, between the Stazi oni Strasbourg - Saint-Denis and République) in the video attached MAP .
Dunque se vi capiterà di utilizzare questi tratti di linee ponete molta attenzione fuori dai finestrini, per poter cogliere queste stazioni rimaste congelate nel tempo. So if you happen to use these existing lines put a lot of attention out of the windows, to catch these stations had remained frozen in time. Sono buie, misteriose e creano un certo fascino anke agli stessi parigini che ne conoscono l'esistenza (molto pochi!). Are dark, mysterious and create a certain charm to them anke Parisians who know that they exist (very few!).

In fact, these stations have been closed since 1939 due to the high cost of operation that required, and because of the high proximity to the stations following the same line.
For the same reason other subway stations were closed but later reopened at the same time and still working:
  • Varenne;
  • Bel-Air;
  • Rennes;
  • Liège;
  • Cluny.
For other reasons exist with respect to two stations, although they were built, they never saw a passenger on their platforms:
  • Porte Molitor;
  • Haxo.
Built on two sections of two subway lines that connect different, these stations should have been used during special events and occasions. In fact, these lines are never put into service if not for parking trains. The two stations have never even been provided with access from public roads.

Every so often these stations, however, "reborn" and are re-used even if not for the transport of persons: they are held such as a movie set, as decoration, exotic (for years the station Croix-Rouge has been "transformed" into a sort of beach ) or as advertising space a bit 'part (in 2010 the Gare Saint-Martin has launched the new Nissan Qashqai with lots of colorful spots scattered around the station).

So this is a new and mysterious magical world, inaccessible to most (a little 'as the Catacombs of Paris) except for a few seconds to quickly jump to board a train.

Curiously, there are also some "stations" which are simply "empty boxes underground" concrete which have no access even to the surface and are not linked to any Metro line.

These are three, two of which are located in the district of La Defense and a near Paris Orly Airport.
