Underground stations are now completely inaccessible to the public 4:
- Arsenal (line 5, between the St. turnips and actions Quai de la Bastille) MAP ;
- Champ de Mars (line 8, between the St. La Motte Picquet actions - Grenelle and Ecole Militaire) MAP ;
- Croix-Rouge (line 10, between St actions Sèvres-Babylone and Mabillon) MAP ;
- Saint-Martin (lines 8 and 9, between the Stazi oni Strasbourg - Saint-Denis and République) in the video attached MAP .
In fact, these stations have been closed since 1939 due to the high cost of operation that required, and because of the high proximity to the stations following the same line.
For the same reason other subway stations were closed but later reopened at the same time and still working:
- Varenne;
- Bel-Air;
- Rennes;
- Liège;
- Cluny.
- Porte Molitor;
- Haxo.
Every so often these stations, however, "reborn" and are re-used even if not for the transport of persons: they are held such as a movie set, as decoration, exotic (for years the station Croix-Rouge has been "transformed" into a sort of beach ) or as advertising space a bit 'part (in 2010 the Gare Saint-Martin has launched the new Nissan Qashqai with lots of colorful spots scattered around the station).
So this is a new and mysterious magical world, inaccessible to most (a little 'as the Catacombs of Paris) except for a few seconds to quickly jump to board a train.
Curiously, there are also some "stations" which are simply "empty boxes underground" concrete which have no access even to the surface and are not linked to any Metro line.
These are three, two of which are located in the district of La Defense and a near Paris Orly Airport.
