Rue de Ménilmontant

A special mention to Rue de Ménilmontant, a street in Paris is rather special for this city.
It is indeed one of the steepest streets of Paris. If you happen to have to go in the highest part of the street, or east to the outskirts of Paris, I advise you not to get off at Metro Ménilmontant otherwise you had to make a nice climb! Choose rather to catch up with the two bus lines, 96 and 26. ( MAP )
Here are some numbers:
  • 1,230 meters in length;
  • 58 meters in altitude between the start and end of the road;
  • Average width of 13.7 meters.
But what can we do here in the Rue de Ménilmontant?
Well, get off at bus stops at the intersection of Rue des Pyrénées, and began to descend after a few meters and the first curve curves you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over central Paris, in framing the Centre Pompidou, la Tour Saint-Jacques in Chatalet The Ballon Air de Paris (if in flight).

You can also enjoy a stop in the small (1,800 m 2) but very relaxing garden Pavillon Carré de Baudouin ( MAP ) (summer residence dating from the eighteenth century Palladian style and typically), a building dedicated to its 815 m 2 'art and culture.

A few meters after Immerse yourself in the Cité de l'Ermitage, you can immerse yourself for a few minutes in a village atmosphere and to meet in Paris without difficulty, cats or other wild animals such as weasels or ferrets. ( MAP )

Continuing the descent toward the center of Paris you can take advantage of the many small ethnic restaurants and shops (this district, along with that of nearby Belleville, is one of the most multi-ethnic Paris).

In the lower part of the street is the beautiful church of Notre Dame de la Croix ( MAP ) built in 1863, and the main entrance on rue Julien Lacroix.
