To get there you need only buy a ticket for € 3.05 one way with the RER train: take the RER C direction Versailles Rive Gauche at which stops you get off and walk a few hundred meters to the entrance of the Palace (a short walk compared to those who walk in the gardens!).
Once you got off the train, exit the station and cross the road, here there are three routes available: To take the shortest traverse to the left at the first intersection, turn right, the palace is at the end of this road (along the route will pass before the School Architecture of Versailles on the right, while on the left's old town is a street style with several local shops).
After crossing a large parking lot you come to the gates of the Palace: to head to the ticket office if you wish to buy tickets to visit the Castle, the Trianon and Marie Antoinette domain of revenue and go into the first building on the left.
If you visit only the gardens of the palace entrance is free and you access them from a gate placed over the box office.
If you are entitled to free admission (for children under 26 years resident in the EU, artists, professionals, students of universities and art schools, the disabled, journalists ,...) or planned during the visit on the first Sunday of each month head directly to the castle (a low steel frame covered with wood boards where you have to go through the metal detector).
Prices:
- Passeport € 18 ticket (which you can see anything, including exhibitions and performances);
- Château € 15 ticket (for the palace tour, including visits and temporary exhibitions and audio-guide);
- Ticket Trianon and the Domain of Marie Antoinette € 10.
Discover the church where King attended the celebrations, the rooms of the King and Rgina (yes, they slept in separate rooms!), The room where the King made all the decisions, the Hall of Mirrors where they held dances and parties , galleries of paintings and busts.
After the visit of the Castle immerse yourself in the enchanting gardens of the palace. They are exactly as you see in documentaries, and meticulously cared for in a inincessante by hundreds of gardeners.
The palace is divided into several "small" gardens, each different from the other, each time a different discovery: amphitheaters and find places where you regularly come to life events that are organized, fountains, ponds, meadows and woods. There is also a huge cross-shaped channel in which to relax by fitting a boat with oars (for 30, 45 or 60 minutes at the price of 11 €, 13 € and 15 €).
For those who do not feel up to walking for miles through the gardens and the Palace there are three alternatives:
- make good use of the train at a price of 6.50 € for a round and a return along the way door to the Trianon and CEH with 3 intermediate stops (which you can get on and off the next train);
- take in a dense electric vehicle (the cars used on golf courses) for 4 people at a price of 30 € for one hour (7.50 € for each additional quarter hour);
- to rent a bike at a price of 4.50 € for 30 minutes, 6.50 € for one hour, 15 € for 4 hours and 17 € for 8 hours.
