The Sainte Chapelle

The masterpiece of the most famous' Gothic architecture was built in 1242 in the Palais de la Cité to hold the Crown of Thorns brought by Jesus. Unfortunately, the Palais de la Cité, there are only reached the Sainte Chapelle and the Conciergerie and in its place there is now a courthouse.

To get there you can use the Metro, get off at Cité station nearby, or the many who have their bus stop in front of the entrance.
Attention because the Sainte Chapelle is one of the few monuments that are not visible from the street (with the exception of the spire that reaches 75 meters Height "and visible in the distance) then you must take to reach it as a reference just the courthouse.
( SEE MAP )
Know that to be able to visit the 'entrance is located 20 meters to the left of the great gate of the Palace of Justice. Here is a small port is usually not difficult to spot because of long queues formed in front of visitors.
But be careful not to mistake a row! In fact there are two: one for the visits to the Chapel, the other for public access to the courthouse.
Without the tail (sometimes it can be endless) be prepared to undergo a check as the metal-detector at the airport, or even more in-depth: must remove coats and jackets and scarves, lay them with belts, cell phones, wallets and bags on the belt for 'ray inspection X!
Because these controls so excessive for a small chapel? Simply because you log in to visit the Palace which hosts the most important processes in France!

Gone are the controls you enter a courtyard, dominated by the chapel: a small but high! The main entrance you find you proceed along the left.

Entering it you will find in the lower chapel, a place somewhat "strange", a real gift shop! The room has enough time low, and above it is the famous room where the walls are "processed" in glass.

To get there are two small staircases on either side of the door, which ones should be taken to the left (looking from the front door of the crypt), the other is used for the descent.

Remember you have to do absolutely silent: though in fact the chapel is now desecrated there are chairs placed on the two long sides to "meditate" (architecture).

Then sit back and contemplate!
